Amazon's four retail website platforms needed a unified, high-performance structured logging system. Wrote the logging libraries across C, C++, Perl, and Java for all four platforms — Gurupa, SimpleStack, Horizonte v4, and Horizonte v5.

When the initial cross-platform library was rejected by platform owners, transferred teams to personally rewrite it to meet all requirements.

Report Generation: 8 Minutes to 10 Seconds

Inherited a failing reporting system built on Java BIRT. Reports took up to 8 minutes each, with 3MB+ of XML configuration per report. After evaluating the existing system, built a complete replacement using C++ and Perl with a headless browser rendering engine.

Reduced execution time by 98%, cut configuration by 97%, corrected existing bugs, and improved visual quality — meeting deadlines previously thought impossible.

Replacing a Failed $1M Vendor Solution

Hired to migrate data into a newly purchased $1M third-party DCIM system. Through thorough investigation and on-site work with the vendor's developers, determined the system could not meet requirements — it fell short of even the existing legacy system.

Wrote a detailed deficiency report, then architected and led development of a complete replacement. Designed the database, wrote the core framework, created the UI workflow, and planned a 4-phase, 1.5-year roadmap that the team could execute independently.

ControlFloor: iOS Device Farm Platform

Built an on-premises, cross-platform iOS device farm from the ground up. Created next-generation iOS automation replacing WebDriverAgent and Appium, with real-time low-latency video streaming and web-based remote control of physical iOS devices.

Co-created go-ios (modern iOS CLI tooling), analyzed and re-implemented Apple proprietary protocols, and led iOS support for the open-source DeviceFarmer project.

H.264 Streaming Server from Specification

The existing in-house video streaming system couldn't handle H.264 encoded video. Built a complete H.264 streaming library from the codec specification in C++ using Apache APR, including a distributed performance testing system.

Delivered in 6 months while simultaneously leading development of the platform's major "Structured Content" feature.

CaaSP: Enterprise Kubernetes Distribution

Worked on SUSE's Containers as a Service Platform — not just using Kubernetes, but developing the distribution itself. Led integration of Dex for external authentication via LDAP, Active Directory, OIDC, and SAML. Wrote SaltStack orchestration debugging tools and contributed to upstream Kubernetes components.

FBI System Integration for State Government

The Maryland Department of Correctional Services needed to connect to the FBI information database (NDEX/LEEP). A third-party consulting group hired for the work couldn't accomplish it. Identified the blocking issues and implemented federated authentication using OpenAM.

Additionally performed security audits for government clients, modernized legacy authentication systems, and managed the department handling all non-standard technology projects.
